JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR WELD SHOP LEAD

Planning,scheduling,organizing,delegating,communicating,prioritizing…. 

Overall direction of day-to-day activities relating to production and equipment in the welding shop. 

 

  •  Supervise the work of welders to insure the orderly and quality fabrication of customer products 
  • Supervise employees in work tasks to verify and ensure conformance to specifications, drawings, procedures, quality, schedule, and budget 
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, sketches, and work orders to employees 
  • Recommendation for promotion or pay increases, disciplinary action to be discussed with Human Resource Manager.    
  • Perform production welding as needed to meet the manufacturing schedule 
  • Inspect work in progress and finished goods, make recommendations on proper work methods and fabrication requirements 
  • Evaluate the operating condition of Company equipment, developing recommendations regarding replacement, major repairs, and parts replacement 
  • Shop cleans up schedule – develop and delegate 
  • Recommend measures to improve production, methods, equipment performance and quality of customer product 
  • Suggest changes on working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of workers 
  • Train and hone skills of lesser qualified welders.    
  • Customer Liaison: meet with customers to interpret their needs & provide information to Project Coordinator for quotation. 
  • With Project Coordinator assign appropriate staff for specific field projects 
  • Estimate materials needed for production & advise Project Coordinator stock to be ordered 
  • Plan and coordinate the work of welders/painters for specific shop projects 
  • Provide training and work evaluation for assigned staff. Ensure work engagement, encourage, discipline when required and guide welder/painter employees 
  • Assist workers in solving work related problems 
  • Address complaints and resolve them 
  • Monitor and support all shop projects maintaining high quality, on time delivery, safety and staying within budget 
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work 
  • Set a clear leadership example in work ethics and quality workmanship 
  • Promote a high degree of safety awareness 
  • Actively communicate with others so that work is performed in an informed manner, suitable to the needs of the company and customer 
  • Manage job shop production workloads and manpower while building a team environment 
  • Advise Project Coordinator of required materials 
  • Check all employee time sheets at either day’s end or first thing in the morning
